Charlotte Van den Broeck
Charlotte Van den Broeck (1991) holds a Masters in Literary Studies (English and German) from the University of Ghent and a Masters in Drama from the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp.
In 2015, she made her debut with the poetry collection Kameleon, which was awarded with the prestigious Herman De Coninck Debut prize. Her second collection Nachtroer was awarded the triennial Paul Snoek Prize. Her work has been translated into German, Spanish, English, Italian and French. On stage, Van den Broeck has a performative approach to poetry as a dramatic form. She performed at many international literature festivals, amongst which Poesiefestival Berlin, Woordfees Stellenbosc, Ledbury Poetry Festival and she was granted the honour of opening the Frankfurter Buchmesse with Arnon Grunberg in 2016.
Her prose debut Waagstukken (Bold Ventures), a collection of narrative essays about architecture and suicide, has been a best-seller in both the Netherlands and Belgium and was translated into English and German. Charlotte is currently working on a second prose book which will be published in 2024.
